TBLMA Organisation profile

The TBLMA was incorporated on 14th July 1995. Initially formed to improve degraded conditions along the Talbot Brook, this group has been highly successful in encouraging landholders to undertake restoration work on their properties in the Talbot Brook and adjacent catchment areas, and in obtaining funding when capital works are required. The main reason our group has kept together whilst other land care groups in our area have folded is that there is a nucleus of members who are dedicated to bringing about actual change to the degraded areas in which we live. Since 1995 there has been a core of members in our association, many of whom are farmers, namely Dennis Luelf, Laurie Fairclough, David Breen, Geoff Williams, Robert and Eggy Boggs, Liz Manning, Ian Beresford-Peirse, and Colin Cable who all have been instrumental in helping in the fight against salinity in our area. Being prepared to tackle sites outside of the properties owned by group members has also contributed to the large number of successful projects for which this group has been responsible. Whilst initially members were mostly local landholders, a number of members who have now left the area have maintained their connections with the group, returning to participate on community working days.
